Welcome Concert
The Vocal Arts Ensemble opens the California International Choral Festival & Competition by performing for the competing choirs and an enthusiastic audience. To welcome them to our community, the Ensemble will sing selections in each choir’s native language. With all of the choirs in attendance, this concert begins a joyful celebration of the three-day festival.

Required Pieces Competition
Each choir performs the same two pieces of music while the judges listen for the elements that make each choir strong. You can judge for yourself and become a discerning listener during this intense first day of competition. The concert is free and audiences may come and go during the performances.

Folk Song Competition
Sure to be the most colorful evening of the competition, each choir, dressed in native costume, will perform the folk music from their country. Don’t miss this energetic and soulful evening of song that will surely deepen your understanding of the universal language of music.

Sunday, June 28, 1:00 p.m.
Choir’s Choice Competition
Each choir has chooses a 12-minute program of their finest music to perform. This will be an extraordinary afternoon that showcases the choirs’ unique styles and exceptional musical skills, and it is the final competition of the Festival. At the end of this performance, you can vote for your favorite choir in The People’s Choice selection.

Sunday, June 28, 8:00 p.m.
Grand Finale Awards
The Festival & Competition concludes with the awards ceremony, honoring the winning choirs in each category. The first, second and third place choirs will sing one song of their choice. As a grand finale, all choirs join together for the performance of All Breathing Life by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ave Maria by Morten Lauridsen and This is My Song from Finlandia by Jean Sibelius. This will be one of the most glorious sounds ever heard in the Performing Arts Center! It is certain to remain in your memory as a profound musical experience.
